Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's parents emigrated to Louisiana at the beginning of decade of the 1990s. Decker won a regional talent contest with her version that was a cover of the Patsy Montana song I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart at the age of just nine years old. Decker's family relocated out of Louisiana and into Georgia in the summer of 1995. After she began writing frequently, she travelled to Nashville and also visited music businesses and record labels in the hope of securing a contract. The songs she wrote were sold to record companies and other artists through a Big Yellow Dog Records agent when she was 17. The demos of Decker were sent through to L.A. Reid by Mercury Records President David Massey, who was then in charge of Island/Def Jam. Reid then signed Decker to a recording contract. Jessie James' first album was titled Jessie James and released in August 2009, was her self-titled debut. Jessie James achieved a reasonable level of success in the form of Wanted being able to make it into the Top 40 charts. But while Decker had always considered herself as a singer from the country genre, the album was made and promoted using a popular audience in mind. The music of Decker came under more attention after the launch in the form of two hits. The second single, Boys in the Summer was a country-inspired track. Decker launched her sophomore album with two titles: Sweet American Dreams or Daughter of a Gypsy. Mercury decided to put it back on the shelf after the first three singles failed to make it onto the country charts. Decker then was let out of the contract.
