Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. Her first Broadway role, she was the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley, Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with actors and directors both on screen and stage for the entirety of her professional career. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's Hulu-exclusive show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres on November 22nd. Ashford's current project includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The movie will air on Disney DTC in the form of an Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in March 2023 when he plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), exactly the same group that brought us Hamilton, will direct the musical. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis, which saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the nation's first impeachment proceedings in Over an Century. For two seasons, she was a star of CBS's hit comedy B Positive. The show was written by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. The show also included Ben Vereen as well as Hector Elizondo. Other Broadway credits include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and currently splits her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
